What a great way to end the Spring Break fest of 5 shows in 6 days with this show last night. It was at the famous Double Door in Chicago, and it was not a completely packed house, but this may have been the most high energy show of the week. Well as you can tell from the picture I ended up pretty much on top of the stage for this show last night, and my ears are still ringing from it. Not the smartest move I ever made, but this is rock and roll bitches. Anyway, I think it was even more crowded at the Empty Bottle for these guys than it was on Saturday for Black Mountain. I pretty much missed all of the opener, but whatever, I was there for BSP.

Black Mountain rules. There I said it. And many times the crowd was echoing the same sentiment at last night's show at the Empty Bottle. I walked up to about 20 people standing outside who apparently decided they didn't need to buy tickets before showing up, and of course it was sold out. Well the Spring Break concert going continued last night at the Vic on Sheffield with the great Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks. You will know Malkmus from the legendary Pavement of course. Anyway, the show was pretty great even though I got stuck standing behind some tall old dude (as seems to always happen to me at the Vic). His new record is really, really solid (pick it up if you haven't yet) and has some great riffy/jammy kind of tracks so the live show really gives him a chance to show off his guitar chops. ...

Well Bvaz's "Spring Break Concertpalooza" kicked off in epic fashion last night with Justice at the Riviera Theater here in Chicago. I kind of didn't know what to expect from this show when I arrived. Thank Christ, this is fantastic news. Chicagoist is reporting that Metro is ditching Ticketmaster (AKA fuckface) for its own ticketing system. I just wanted to post a big THANK YOU to Metro for doing this, because Ticketmaster is the worst thing for concert tickets ever, and there have been many shows here in Chicago I have avoided going to simply because the "ticket price" is actually double what it is advertised as thanks to ticketmaster fees. Several shows I didn't buy tickets too because the normal 15-20 becomes 35-40, such as Girl Talk, Vampire Weekend and New ...

Well last night I went to check out Lightspeed Champion, a solo project of UK rocker Dev Hynes, at this place I had never been, AV-aerie, out in the middle of nowhere west of downtown. Anyway, the venue was pretty cool, but very strange.
