Back again this week with another edition of Friday Five where I break down some stories from the week that wasn’t. Here we go:
1. Radiohead snubbed Miley at the Grammy’s
Awesome.
2. Watchmen
Watchmen is out today, reviews are kind of hit or miss, though Ebert loved it. I will certainly be checking it out as I read the comic book series recently and thought it was quite solid, but I immediately thought there was no way this would translate as a movie, so I am pretty skeptical. Hopefully the Dr. Manhattan blue dong parts won’t be quite to the level of Forgetting Sarah Marshall’s intro, though now that I say that I’m sure they’ll somehow be worse.
3. Beatles ‘Rock Band’ dated for September
Now I love Rock Band, though more specifically I really just love busting through some RATM and Smashing Pumpkins on the drums. I am with a lot of people in thinking this music game thing has way over-saturated the market and I am not sure where they are going with all this at this point. Beatles, yea they rule, but do we need another one of these games? (Much less, do we need a repacked ‘Greatest Hits’ version of any of these?) Plus the Beatles, despite their uber-ness are not really the type of band I crave when I think of Rock Band. Oh well, big coup for Harmonix I guess.
4. The Rihanna/Chris Brown Saga Continues
He got charged with 2 felonies in this whole situation, and the guy is obviously just an all around douchebagface. I will give the guy 0.1% credit just because he was in Stomp The Yard, but he did die in that movie so what does that say about him? Don’t worry though Rihanna, the Wu has your back. Anyway, the guy is a turd, although now bizarre marriage rumors are being floated out there by PerezHilton. This is the new Whitney and Bobby apparently, but I ask you one thing, how many songs does Chris Brown have about ghost-busting? None. Nuff said.
(Side note: Some ‘he said, she said’ on Sigourney Weaver and the new Ghostbusters video game)
Over the weekend as Chuck P was gracing us with his presence in Dallas we invented a new shot called “The Gordon Bombay”.

The Gordon Bombay (shot)
- Fill a shot glass with shaved ice
- Pour in Bombay Gin (or Bombay Sapphire) over the ice, leaving it 1/8th of an inch short from the top of the glass, just like his career
- Garnish with a single tear
- Serve
And because I’ve decided today is a Funky Friday Five, here’s a bonus:
