Fresh on the heels of killer David Byrne and Grizzly Bear shows the week came to a climax on a Thursday evening at the Granada when hometown girl Annie Clark AKA St. Vincent came through on the second to last date of her tour (before Austin and doing ACL-TV), and she absolutely killed it before a near sell-out crowd.

Love this song. Also love: how J always sounds mega-loud when doing an in-studio TV show performance. And also love: how J sounds mega-loud no matter what the circumstance.

The Talking Head himself took the stage at the Majestic last Sunday night to a packed (and hyped) house at the Majestic Theater here in downtown Dallas. He played some new stuff, a lot of old stuff, and the crowd ate it up like cash money.

Well following my post yesterday about some dates surfacing, now the full tour schedule has dropped, and although I am happy for all you fuckers in these cities who will be at these shows, I am pretty sad that no Dallas date is on the horizon. Dates are after the jump.

Pretty awesome news coming out today that Sunny Day Real Estate is reuniting and doing a reunion tour. "Diary" was a kick ass album, and despite their being lumped into the emo category by most, they still have great songs, so I am pretty pumped about this, especially because they are hitting up Dallas. I will be there. Tour dates after the jump.

No word as far as I can tell on an official tour announcement yet, but I have been noticing a few dates popping up around the US in October, so hopefully this means a full tour announcement is imminent. I am pretty pumped about Farm and would love to see him yet again this year (following TWICE at SXSW, rawk!). The shows I have seen so far on the interwebs are as follows, if you know any more leave a comment:
10/9/09 - Theater of the Living Arts - Philadelphia, PA
10/10/09 - Newport Music Hall - Columbus, OH
10/11/09 - ...

The hype machine that is Animal Collective stopped by the House of Blues the other night to drop their tribal electronic jams on the crowd, and although I am not one of those people who is a die-hard AnCo lover, the show was really really good and they pretty much delivered in every way you could want for their show.

Headed up to the Granada for the Passion Pit show. These guys had been getting a pretty fair amount of buzz but had a slight bit of backlash I had noticed on their new album (which I have not yet listened to by the way). They were actually incredibly solid and brought some great dance/disco rock-ish kind of jams to the stage with pretty good energy. The crowd was very bizarre due to many reasons, including the Granada's decision to have reserved seats for this show, which was basically a dance rock show, so there was a ...

A band I feel like I have seen a million times (probably more like 4 or 5) in the last year or so is heading back out on the road at the end of the summer into fall for some more rocking. These guys have always been really good when I have seen them, and their album is good stuff, so you can't go wrong here. Also, the list I have doesn't indicate openers, but I know at least from other sources that Maps & Atlases will be opening the Dallas Granada show, and I do love me ...

Once again no Dallas (or Texas) on the schedule but uber-indie rockers Modest Mouse will be hitting the road again this summer for some Canadian/US dates, so peep that shit.

Pains of Being Pure at Heart, who we caught and loved at SXSW, have announced a headlining tour through September and October, including a stop near here at Lola's. They were pretty awesome at SXSW so this would be a show I would recommend you catch if you can. Tour dates after the jump.

I have been busy as hell so I have been awful about updating the site as of late, but hopefully we can get some action back going here.
Anyway, came across this tuneage in my inbox and dug the song so I thought I would throw it out there in a 'Mix Tape Monday' kind of way on a Tuesday. Anyway, these guys are also selling their full album on their website for only $1.00 from now until July 4th. So peep the song and if you dig it that is a hell of a deal to ...

Glasvegas has just announced a slew of summer tour dates in the US, similar to Los Campesinos!, surrounding their appearance at Lollapalooza in August. Fortunately they will be hitting the Big D here so I will finally get to see them after they canceled on me at SXSW. Full tour dates after the jump.

Los Campesinos! has just announced a summer US tour to coincide with the final run of Aleks Campesinos! with the band. She is leaving the band to return to her studies, though the band assures that they will continue rocking on. These dates are in much bigger indoor venues than they have been on their previous 2 US tours, and they also make a festival stop at Grant Park for Lollapalooza and in San Francisco at Outside Lands along the way. Tour dates after the jump.
