Cinematic Throwback Thursday: Better Off Dead & One Crazy Summer
Two brothers... One speaks no English, the other learned English from watching "The Wide World of Sports." So you tell me... Which is better, speaking no English at all, or speaking Howard Cosell? Hey, Hoops, you ever notice how people die in alphabetical order? I know, two movies.  However comparing these two movies in plot, character, and principles involved, it is the same fucking movie.  Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of both of these, however both being Savage Steve Holland projects in autuerism, his only two movies in a slew of television shows, it appears Steve made ...

Cinematic Throwback Thursday: Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man

Cinematic Throwback Thursday: Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
There's a new drug out there called Crystal Dream. Now, what it is, you don't shoot it, you don't smoke it, you don't snort it. Apparently, you put it in your eyes, and it tells you lies. There’s a couple trends in nineties movies that resulted in some of the best films the decade had to offer, the first being drugs.  Crack in New Jack City or Nuke in Robocop 2, a bevy of amazing action flicks materialized around the subject of drugs and the changing American landscape.  Another attribute of nineties films, Japanese corporate takeovers.  This can be seen in films ...

WTF - Repo: The Genetic Opera

WTF - Repo: The Genetic Opera
No real intellect behind this post, however this trailer looks like Baz Luhrmann & Frank Miller had a bastard child on celluloid. Hollywood is doing a shitty job of remaking films, this is Repo Man with CGI.

Cinematic Throwback Thursday: The Wraith

Cinematic Throwback Thursday: The Wraith
You listen to me, you son-of-a-bitch! There's a kid out there usin' his car to kill people, not that it's such a big deal since it seems to be your gang he's got it in for... so, if you guys try to take the law into your own hands, and that killer turns up dead, I'm gonna see you all sniffin' cyanide in the Arizona gas chamber. Some people define wraith as a ghost, however my definition extends to alternate definition b: A fucking odd movie that confused and creeped the hell out of me as a kid.  Not since The ...

10 Cinematic Arguments That Are Completely False

10 Cinematic Arguments That Are Completely False
Waterworld really just needed a bigger budget to get the water-effect right. Nobody really gives Jaws 2 it’s due credit Jackie Mason’s Jewish shtick makes any movie better. Baz Luhrmann’s heightened sense of realism typifies his auteurism. Orson Welles’ career only got better with age. Of course Randy Quaid is a more accomplished actor than Dennis…he has an Oscar nomination for Christ’s sake. Casting for the Rambo series was too rushed, Rick Moranis should have been considered for the role of Col. Trautman. Remakes have their place…the new Texas Chain Saw Massacre is far and away a more robust film than it’s predecessor. Paulie Shore’s role in ...

Cinematic Throwback Thursday – Three O’Clock High

Cinematic Throwback Thursday – Three O’Clock High
You and me, we're gonna have a fight. Today. After school. Three o'clock. In the parking lot. You try and run, I'm gonna track you down. You go to a teacher, it's only gonna get worse. You sneak home, I'm gonna be under your bed. Easily one of the most overlooked and underrated movies of the eighties, Three O’Clock High s still an amazing flick.  The film follows a defining day in the life of Jerry Mitchell, an above average student and nerd running the school bookstore and a writer for the school newspaper.

Are You F@&king With Me - Ellen Ripley

Are You F@&king With Me - Ellen Ripley
Ellen Ripley Sigourney Weaver’s character Ripley in the Alien films is often praised for her heroine qualities, however every time I watch Alien I weep for the future. Few characters in cinema have been forced to eat the amount of shit Ripley has. Between dodging aliens at every corner, her character is constantly getting fucked with.

Open Letter - Sergeant Roger Murtaugh's House, October '98
Dear Roger, Let me start by saying, I have enjoyed our time together. Listening to your witty quips about Trish’s pot roasts, watching Rianne, Nick, and Carrie grow up…the condom commercial fiasco still makes me smile. These joys aside, we need to talk. This shit is getting old.

Cinematic Throwback Thursday - Real Genius

Cinematic Throwback Thursday - Real Genius
Professor Hathaway: What are you looking at? You're laborers; you should be laboring. That's what you get for not having an education. Professor Hathaway personified the typical, asshole professor most were presented in college. A man confronted with a need of tenure and a hopeless need for academic indulgence, plus the wanton of a high-powered laser, but that is beside the point. Whereas Hathaway served as the prototype for the stressed professor, Real Genius portrays the ultimate formulaic eighties plight, performed beautifully.
