First they had the countdown last night, which revealed another countdown of sorts to a BBC radio show this afternoon, and the big reveal finally is a new single 'Mercury'. It is certainly a different sound for them, with a driving drum beat, brassy horns, and a lot more voice modification on Kele's voice than usual. Anyway, go to their website to listen to the track or to see the video for the track. I don't know if this in any way indicates something about LP3, since it doesn't directly say something about that, but they have ...

With exams pretty much done now, it is time to return to rocking out, and what better way to do that than with a Tokyo Police Club show, eh? Saw these guys at Schuba's last year and was really impressed. Since then they have finally released their debut album and are touring in bigger venues to bigger crowds.
There were two openers for the show last night, Smoosh and Maps & Atlases. Maps & Atlases were completely lights out awesome. They were really high energy, with some great songs. Their sound is kind of in the ...

Well I was anticipating making an ACL post today, but the lineup didn't really get me excited (see my earlier post) so I have decided to go back and make the post I was going to make last week. Well September has been quite a month for seeing shows. Of course we saw the end of the festival season with ACL a couple of weeks ago, as well as Snoop Dogg and the Shins at the Download Festival, but these were not the only things going on this month. There were some great Chicago shows in September outside of the big events and here is a wrap up of the best and the worst from September, as well as a look ahead at October.
VHS or Beta - Subterranean
I hadn't really heard too much of VHS or Beta ...

We actually had an extra wristband left over for Sunday, and in a brilliant move, we traded it to the cabbie for cab fare. There was no rocky top game to get in our way today, today was wall to wall rock.
Upon arrival, long time indie-rockers ...
