Well I am in the process of moving so I can't do any proper website updates for a little while, but in the meantime, I started a twitter for the site here and I will update with stuff from Pitchfork today, and also from Lollapalooza in a couple weekends when that happens. I also have a lot of my photo blogging still going on here. Once I get stuff organized next week I should be able to get some photos from the preview night and Pitchfork up.
As for yesterday at Pitchfork, I wasn't there the entire day thanks ...

With the greatness of the Pitchfork Music Fest coming up next weekend, I thought I would throw some fuel on the hype fire for it with some of the bands that will be blowing our minds come time for the festival. I already covered some more Dinosaur Jr. last Thursday so let's hit up some of the other acts.

Well I don't have too much planned in terms of the throwback this week because of the holiday festivities, so in honor of the great J Mascis and Dinosaur Jr. hitting Pitchfork Music Fest here in Chicago in a few weeks I thought I would throw out another homage to one of his earlier albums. This one is not one of the higher regarded albums, and is actually the last recorded Dinosaur album in the "solo J" era before the breakup/reunion in recent years, but it certainly still has its classic moments, and is still chock full of blazing ...

Glastonbury has put up videos of full sets from a lot of the artists that played the festival over last weekend, including some of our favorites here at DBF such as The National and MGMT. The full list of artists is here and not everyone has a video setlist up, but a lot of people do, so search around.

The Hideout has announced the initial lineup for their annual block party over on their website. I was at the block party last year to see.....bloc party oddly enough, and it was pretty solid, and it looks like they are bringing some incredibly solid acts to the party again this year, with New Pornographers, Neko Case and Black Mountain (awesome) already on the lineup. I have seen both New Pornographers and Black Mountain earlier this year and both are certainly worth checking out (Neko was injured and unable to play with the Pornos at the Riviera though). ...

Well it has been a crazy morning of website errors and whatnot, but I am happy to say our happy little DBF group will be rolling to exactly the shows we wanted to go to, the Rogue Wave on Friday and the BSS on Saturday (with Yeasayer opening). It is a good thing that Sunday seems to be the slowest day of the festival for people I like since I will most likely be worn the fuck out after all of this madness. Should be good times though. Anyway, it seemed like the Schuba's shows sold out ...

Not too long after the schedule was announced for Lollapalooza, now news comes down about the Lollapalooza aftershows, and the news is pretty damn good. The list is altogether incredible, and I wish this was more spaced out, since you have so many incredible acts playing in the city on Saturday night. I would absolutely kill to see Okkervil in a venue like Schuba's, but with Bloc Party and BSS also playing that night, it means I probably won't see it. Check out the full list here.

Bonnaroo streaming starts tomorrow, and while the schedule for tomorrow and Saturday on the webcast doesn't really get me that excited, just take a peak at the Sunday night webcast schedule and it is solid fucking gold.
05:15 PM Rogue Wave
06:00 PM Broken Social Scene
07:30 PM Sigur Ros
09:00 PM Death Cab For Cutie
Umm, yes. That will do nicely.

Nada Surf, always good stuff, despite the fact I miss the old songs still. Well, we ventured up to Ribfest Chicago on Lincoln Ave for a great mix of ribs, beer and rock n roll last night. The ribs were tasty, Nada Surf was pretty solid, and as you can see from the picture above, Lincoln was extremely displeased at what has become of Illinois and the United States in the time since his passing. It is such a gigantic Lincoln head on the sign, but it isn't happy Lincoln, or even distinguished Lincoln. I would ...

The Chicago summer festival season has officially begun now with the Do Division Street Festival kicking it off this past weekend over in Wicker Park. I missed the Saturday lineup because of my mission out to Evanston to see Broken Social Scene, but there were some solid acts on the Sunday lineup as well that I wanted to see so I headed over to check it out. I checked out Brooklyn's Bear Hands, Scotland's Frightened Rabbit and Chicago's own 1900's. I didn't stick around for Gil Mantera or Ted Leo (since I had seen Ted Leo the ...

Well, even though Lollapalooza is the big budget gigantor music fest in Chicago, there are quite a few other music festivals throughout the summer season, and this year's Pitchfork Music Festival held July 18-20 at Union Park is shaping up to be complete awesomeness. Initially you had Dinosaur Jr. and Public Enemy on the list, Spoon, Fleet Foxes and Cut Copy were all added soon thereafter, and now today,

Well I was anticipating making an ACL post today, but the lineup didn't really get me excited (see my earlier post) so I have decided to go back and make the post I was going to make last week. Lolla is really in a class of its own as far as festivals go this summer, and I'm quite excited (and I have tix) for this year. Last year was a lot of fun but unfortunately I missed quite a few bands I really wanted to see because of various circumstances, but hopefully this year I will be able ...

ACL Lineup was released today. Now, there may be someone out there who is excited about this lineup, but it doesn't really do it for me. When you compare this thing up against the sheer festival gold that Lollapalooza doled out last week, it's not quite what I was looking forward to. Mind you there are some incredibly quality acts in the lineup down the list like Hot Chip, MGMT, Man Man and Yeasayer, but the headliners are not even close to Lolla, although they do have Raconteurs. It is just tough to justify a festival ...

After two days of rocking, we picked ourselves up to bring ourselves back to Zilker Park for even more. JHall's friend Caroline was in tow for day 3, so us 3 musketeers called back the cabbie of the weekend to bring us back down to the place of rock. We actually had an extra wristband left over for Sunday, and in a brilliant move, we traded it to the cabbie for cab fare. There was no rocky top game to get in our way today, today was wall to wall rock.
Upon arrival, long time indie-rockers ...

Upon awaking on Saturday I had a semi-panic attack again about my iPhone, only to realize we had already slayed that dragon on Friday night. We eased on into the day with some delicious IHOP, and then we headed down to ACL at about 1:30 or so. Most of the daytime lineup on Saturday didn't consist of bands we were huge on, so JHall promptly ventured off to try to watch Rocky Top play the Dirty Gators. He got directions from the cabbie that were apparently completely wrong or something, so he got a nice walking tour ...
